The West Midlands Regional Disability Championships took place on Saturday January 1Oth at the Ken Marriott Leisure Centre in Rugby.

 

There were twice as many entries for the event as the previouis year providing an excellent level of competition, and with the help of the officials and volunteers, the event ran very smoothly.

 

The West Midland Disability Swimming Club members had met in the morningfor their usual session at the Aston Newtown pool providing them with an opportunity to prepare for the afternoon's gala.  For many of these swimmers this was their first dusability swimming championship and, although some of them are not yet classified, they showed a lot of promise fo the future - novice swimmers incluided Olivia Stirrup, Tully Kearney, Emily Fowler-Parkes, Lauren Ballantyne, Aoife Doherty and Ben Walton.

 

Our overall age group winners were:

11-12 yrs Tully Kearney

13-14 yrs Sarah Hickman

17 yrs + Ben Thomas
